CSCL Europe Virgin Voyage to Port Klang, Malaysia

On September 9, the 8500TEU CSCL Europe , the vessel China Shipping Container Lines Co. Ltd. (CSCL) put to the container line between the far east and Europe, began her virgin voyage to Port Klang in the Malaysia. In order to deepen the knowledge of extra large container ships by the local ports and the international trade circle in the Malaysia, CSCL and the local authorities of Port Klang jointly held the ceremony for the virgin voyage of CSCL Europe . Mr. Chan Kong Choy, Minster of Communication of Malaysia, Mr. Huang Chungui, Embassy of China in the Malaysia, and Mr. Li Kelin, Chairman of the Board of CSCL gave passionate and delightful address at the ceremony. The Chairman and President of Port Klang and the Chairman and President of West Port Klang Corporation together with the representatives of all local circles attended the ceremony for the virgin voyage and stepped aboard the ship for a visit.
Port Klang is the last Asian port CSCL Europe anchored on her west-oriented navigation, from then on she will sail directly to European ports, such as Felixstowe, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp etc. Port Klang is an important transit pivot for CSCL in Southeast Asia where there is a matured main/ branch transportation network.
On the morning of 9th, September, Minister Chan Kong Choy had breakfast with Chairman Li Kelin, in which they exchanged opinions on the further development of the container transportation of CSCL in Malaysia.
Enhanced by the development of manufacturing and service industry, Malaysia s economy increased 7.8% in the first half of the year, creating a new growth record since September 2000. In foreign trade, Malaysia has achieved an increase in exports of 19.7% in the first half year as compared with that of the corresponding period last year; and the increase in imports reaches up to 29.7%.
