Nie Kai and Malian minister of energy and water resources attended the signing ceremony
On December 1, 2009, CGGC and the Malian Government held a signing ceremony for the construction of the Taoussa Hydropower Station Project. Nie Kai, Vice President of CGGC, and Mamadou Diarra, the Malian minister of mines, energy & water resources, attended the signing ceremony, and signed the contract on behalf of both parties.
The hydropower station is located on the River Niger, the third largest river in Africa, and substantially composed of the rock-fill dam with clay core, the power plant room and the power transmission lines. It is a multifunctional hub project. The newly signed contract is about No. 3, 4 and 5 bidding sections, and involves a contract value of RMB618 million and a construction period of 54 months. The contract covers the supply and installation of the plant electromechanical equipment, the supply and installation of power transmission lines and transformer stations, and the design and construction of the client s camp.
At the signing ceremony, the Minister congratulated CGGC on wining the project, and welcomed the CGGC friends to visit Mali on behalf of the Malian people. He pointed out that the Taoussa Hydropower Station is an important hydropower station project in Mali, and will benefit the 1 million people in Mali, and create a huge economic benefit for Mali in electricity, irrigation and fishery. He appreciated CGGC for participating in the construction of the important infrastructure in Mali, such as Bamako No. 3 Bridge and Taoussa Hydropower Station, and hoped the company would achieve more in developing the African market.
The signing ceremony was also attended by N'Tji La co Traor , the Malian ambassador in China, and representatives from the Ministry of Mines, Energy & Water Resources and the Ministry of Finance in Mali.
Before the signing ceremony, Nie Kai met the group led by Mr. Mamadou Diarra. He acknowledged the Malian Government for providing help for CGGC in building Bamako No. 3 Bridge, and said that, thanks to vigorous support from the Malian Government and the minister, CGGC would be very confident in building the hydropower station.
