Hunan Valin Ranks World's Top 20 Steel Producers

The recently released list of world's top crude steel producers 2009 showed that Hunan Valin Iron & Steel Group Co., Ltd. ranked 20th among its global competitors by producing 11.8 million tons of crude steel last year.

In 2009, Hunan Valin was confronted with serious challenges due to the global financial crisis. In view of the dramatic changes from the external environment, Hunan Valin positively transformed its economic development mode and timely adjusted its operation strategy while minimizing the negative influence of global financial crisis, thus realizing the annual crude steel output of 11.8 million tons, up by 4.4 percent over that of 2008.

According to the list, 9 Chinese steel producers have been listed as world's top 20 enterprises, with 2 more in number than that of 2008. The new winners are China Shougang Group, Hunan Valin Iron & Steel Group and Steel Authority of India Limited, replacing Gruppo Riva, Sumitomo Metal Industries and ThyssenKrupp Steel AG respectively.
