TCL Wins Vietnam's 2006 Best FDI Golden Dragon Award

TCL (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. is proud to announce that it was one of the 2006 recipients of the Best Foreign Direct Invested (FDI) Golden Dragon Award for its excellence as an FDI enterprise. This highly coveted award was bestowed after several days of expert review in Hanoi, Vietnam. This is yet another honor awarded to TCL (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. following five consecutive years of having earned Vietnam's High-Quality Product Award.

To date, not only has TCL received Vietnam's highest honor but, far more importantly, TCL is the first Chinese FDI enterprise in Vietnam to ever receive the Golden Dragon Award.

The award ceremony was held in Vietnam's Great Theatre in Hanoi, on February 04, 2007, in the presence of several political leaders of the country, who offered their highest praise to the recipients of the Golden Dragon Award. The honorable guests included Pham The Duyet, current chairman of Mat Tran To Quoc Vietnam and an official of the Vietnam Central Government, Nguyen Thi Binh, former deputy president of Vietnam, and Nguyen Manh Cam, former vice premier and foreign minister of Vietnam, among many others.

The Golden Dragon Award was jointly established in 2001 by the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Trade, Culture and Information, the Vietnam Science and Technology Association and the Viet Nam Economic Times newspaper with the goal of acknowledging FDI enterprises that have demonstrated excellence through their outstanding achievements in Vietnam.

Nguyen Thi Binh, the former deputy president of Vietnam, is the honorable chairman of the Golden Dragon Award.Over the past five years since its inaugural ceremony, the Golden Dragon Award has received a great deal of recognition and acclaim from various sectors of Vietnamese society. The induction of the Golden Dragon Award demonstrates that the Vietnamese government attaches great importance to excellent FDI enterprises by recognizing them for their outstanding contributions to the economic development of Vietnam.

As receiving the Golden Dragon Award is evidence of an FDI enterprise's corporate and financial success in Vietnam, the polling process is conducted in a well-controlled and strictly impartial manner. In addition to results compiled from Internet voting, nominated enterprises are evaluated for their great contributions to Vietnam s socio-economic development in general and for the success of foreign investment in Vietnam in particular.

. Thus, the award winners are deemed as having received the highest recognition possible from not only the Vietnamese government but from its people as well. Consequently, there were nearly 9,000 enterprises initially vying for this highly coveted award in 2006 alone. The Award Review Committee eventually reduced that myriad of initial candidates down to only 60 outstanding FDI enterprises that successfully became the final winners of the 2006 Golden Dragon Award.

As a home appliance manufacturer, TCL Vietnam ran for the honor for the first time in 2006. TCL Vietnam's record of stable and persistent growth over the past few years-especially given its successful capture of 18% of the market share of color TV sets in Vietnam catapulted the company to unparalleled heights, far above the vast competition.

In addition, TCL Vietnam has never spared any effort in making contributions to Vietnam's social welfare organizations such as, for instance, the Hope Project and the Communist Youth League Education Fund, among several others. The company s brilliant business achievements, as well as its continuous contributions to the social welfare of this country, have resulted in solid recognition from both official experts and the public alike.

For the first time in history, TCL Vietnam received the 2006 Golden Dragon Award as a representative Chinese home appliance manufacturer in Vietnam.

Winning the Golden Dragon Award clearly demonstrates that TCL Vietnam has not only successfully captured a large local market share but has also made great contributions to Vietnam s socio-economic development as well, In addition, it irrefutably establishes TCL as a global brand name: one that has been recognized as a representative of excellence among Chinese enterprises in Vietnam.
