(Hong Kong, May 18, 2005) - TCL Corporation ("TCL") Chairman, Mr. Li Dongsheng, warmly received the French Minister-delegate for Industry, Mr. Patrick Devedjian, and his delegation in their visit to TCL-Thomson Electronics ("TTE") and TCL & Alcatel Mobile Phones Limited ("T&A") in Shenzhen earlier this week. The Minister recognised the ground-breaking establishments of TTE and T&A as historic moves which are profoundly meaningful to the business relations between China and France.
The Minister and his French delegation comprising 30 representatives from different business and industrial sectors, visited the companies and listened to introductions by Mr. Li and other senior management on the latest development of TCL, TTE and T&A. The Minister praised TCL and Mr. Li for their contribution in promoting Sino-French business co-operation. He also expressed his wishes on the successful consolidation of the two companies.
Mr. Li efforts in promoting Sino-French business and cultural exchanges have won him recognition from the French Government. In September last year, Mr. Li became the first mainland Chinese entrepreneur to be granted the highest honour in France by President Jacques Chirac the Medal of National Honour in recognition of his contribution in promoting bilateral trade and cultural exchanges when he served as the Honourable Chairman for China French Culture Year.
Mr. Li thanked Mr. Patrick Devedjian and his delegation for their visit. He said: "TCL Group will employ best efforts to consolidate the businesses of TTE and T&A and to realize the synergies brought forth by the bilateral co-operation."
The visit was one of the highlights during Mr. Patrick Devedjian first visit to China.
