Mr.Zhang Chunxian Met with Mr.Lakshimi Mittal

In the morning of October 9th, Mr. Zhang Chunxian, Secretary of Hunan Provincial Communist Party Committee & Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, met with Mr.Lakshimi Mittal, Board Chairman and CEO of Arcelor Mittal Company, and his team in Changsha.
ArcelorMittal Group is currently the biggest steel producer in the world, with headquarters located in Luxemburg. In November 2007, Technical Cooperation Framework Agreements for projects of automotive sheet, electric steel, stainless steel, etc. were signed between Valin Group and ArcelorMittal, driving forth the business cooperation between both parties. This time, Mr.Lakshimi Mittal came to Hunan to attend the Ground-breaking Ceremony of the two Projects of Automotive Sheet and Electric Steel jointly built by Valin and ArcelorMittal. The total investment for the two projects is predicted to 12.5 billion yuan.
Mr.Zhang Chunxian extended congratulations to the success of the cooperation between Valin and ArcelorMittal. He said that ever since the outbreak of global financial crisis Hunan has actively carried out the counter crisis methods stipulated by the Central Government, to keep the steady and quick growth of provincial economy, to maintain the continuous increase of consumption and to develop the modern industrial system. Currently, the State has been practicing a number of measures and policies to facilitate the growth of Center China provinces, providing solid basis and excellent opportunities for Hunan s development. Valin and ArcelorMittal are now facing the outer challenges together and taking steps to deepen the strategic cooperation, which will definitely bring competitive advantages to both companies in huge market demand. He hopes that these two cooperation projects should be constructed and accelerated with good qualities. The continuous support will be provided by the Provincial Communist Party Committee and the Provincial Government.
Mr.Lakshimi Mittal expressed his recognition about China s surprising progress to counter the global financial crisis and stated that ArcelorMittal gave the great concern and priority to the long-term strategic cooperation with developing countries such as China. The good economic and social development of Hunan has provided a great environment for ArcelorMittal to strengthen its competitiveness in the crisis. Both companies will then enhance and deepen the cooperation in technology transfer, technical training etc. ArcelorMittal will provide the most advanced technology to support the cooperation projects, to produce the best steel product in Hunan and recognized by the world.

Luxemburg ambassador, Mr. Carlo Krieger, and Vice Secretary of Provincial Communist Party Committee, Mr. Mei Kebao, also attended this meeting.
