Gree Wins a Big Success on Striking the Fake and Protecting the Rights

For always, the fake brand trademark and low quality products has flooded the market. Their methods have becoming more tricky and various, covering a range from daily necessities to home appliances. The person in charge of the campaign in Gree said, the fake Gree products mainly features Gree small home appliances, especially for gas appliance, water heater, cooker hood and solar water heater. This is usually done by legally registering the name of Gree in Hongkong by mainland citizens, and then the registered company would authorize or entrust the factories and sales company to produce and sell products. According to the primary investigation of Gree, nowadays there are almost 60 such kind of shelf company registering under the name of Gree in Hongkong. At the early of 2008, Gree Electric Appliances entrusted attorney to accuse a group of violating companies registered under the name of Gree in Hongkong at one time, and there came the written judgment for winning the lawsuit in the past few days.

At the same time of the success of striking the fake and protecting the rights in Hongkong, considering the serious situation of fake Gree products in Henan Province, Gree worked together with the professional fake-striking organizations and ferreted out the factories in a wide range, including over 20 cities and counties in Henan and Jiangsu Province, with a total number of 381 factories and the product total worth of 1.2 million Yuan (about 175,000 USD).

According to the person in charge in Gree, to the illegal fake brand behavior, on one hand, the enterprise would surely protect its own rights through legal methods; on the other hand, he also calls for the consumers distinguishing the brand and purchasing the products cautiously. He said, generally there are several ways for faking Gree trademark: certain changes on the figure of Gree trademark or English trademark, for example, they would change the English trademark of Gree to some similar trademarks, like Greenly , Gaile , Reen , Greenis . Another way is to register a company name under the same trademark as Gree , and highlight the word Gree on the products and package. Now 19 shelf companies has been exposed to produce Gree small home appliances under the fake name of Gree brand and sell their products to mainland in bulk, which include Zhuhai Gree Group New Energy Co,.Ltd. , Gree small Home Appliances (Hongkong) Shareholding Co,. Ltd. , Gree small Home Appliances (Guangzhou) Co,. Ltd. , Shenzhen Gree Cookware Co,. Ltd. , Shenzhen Gree Cookware small Home Appliances Co,. Ltd. . As long as the consumers could be aware of the relevant information of product, such as trademark, logo and producer, they could easily figure out the trick of fake brand .
