Gree Sponsors Confucius School in Sao Paulo, Brazil
On November 26, 2008, the biggest Confucius School in South America was established in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Gree Electric Appliance (Gree) was invited to attend the school's opening ceremony with Ms. Tian Shulan (Senior Consultant of Ministry of Education, PRC), Mr. Sun Rongmao (Consul General of China in Sao Paulo) and other guests from both China and Brazil.
The school is co-founded by Sao Paulo State University in Brazil and Hubei University in China. It is the first Confucius school in Brazil and the 266th founded by China in foreign countries. The school aims to strengthen cooperation with Brazilian part in the realm of Chinese language education; but more importantly, it is expected to facilitate popularization of Chinese culture in Brazil. Mr. Gutierrez, the Confucius School's Brazilian President, also a Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Publishing Foundation of the University of Sao Paulo, considered that the foundation of the school would play a key role in promoting communications between the university and China's academic circles. He also said that the existing strategic cooperation relationship between China and Brazil is also growing increasingly profound along with the ever stronger influence of China over the world. However, mastering the language of each other will be a crucial step for fostering communications between the two countries.
Mr. Sun said he appreciated Gree's sponsoring of this school. Ms. Tian also thanked Gree for its contributions to spreading of Chinese culture in foreign countries.
For many years, Gree has bosomed a vision to reward the society. It has time and again donated money to promote education in China. However, this is the first time it sponsors an educational institute in foreign country. Sponsoring of Sao Paulo Confucius School marks an attempt of Gree, a company expanding globally, to help Chinese culture go global. It also marks Gree's undertaking of more social responsibilities while keeping developing and going global. The logo of Gree that stands beside school emblem of the school will witness the generous act of Gree.
