Gree Held Ceremonious Evening Banquet To Greet Spring

On the evening of January 17, Gree Electric Appliance (Gree) held a new year greeting banquet at Zhuhai Dehan Hotel. The theme for the banquet was "Work Hard and Stride to 2009". On the meeting, on behalf of Zhuhai CPC Committee and Zhuhai Municipal Government, Qian Fangli (Deputy Secretary of Zhuhai CPC Committee) expressed heartfelt festival greetings to 40,000 Gree s crew around the world. She also urged Gree to strive for more brilliant achievements.

The party was attended by Zhong Shijian (Deputy Secretary of Zhuhai CPC Committee and Mayor of Zhuhai), Qian Fangli (Deputy Secretary of Zhuhai CPC Committee), Huang Xiaodong (member of the Standing Committee of Zhuhai CPC Committee and Head of Publizicing Department), Liu Zhenxin (member of the Standing Committee of Zhuhai CPC Committee, Secretary General of Zhuhai CPC Committee and Head of Department of Organization), Liu Xiaolong (member of the Standing Committee of Zhuhai CPC Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Zhuhai), Xian Wen (Executive Deputy Director of Standing Committee of Zhuhai People's Congress ), Lv Mingzhi (CPPCC Vice Chairman) and other governmental officials. Together with over 1,600 Gree' employees presented, they celebrated the coming spring and enjoyed the wonderful performances provided by Gree Art Troupe.

Zhu Jianghong, the Board Chairman of Gree, said on the banquet that though year 2008 showed sudden changes in situation, Gree had overcome the adverse impact of the financial crisis and achieved a considerable increase in sales revenue, with the net profit reaching RMB 1.95 billion and a year-on-year growth of about 50%; it also turned in tax payments in the amount of RMB 2.07 billion, up 67% on a year-on-year basis. The impact of global financial crisis will grow stronger in 2009. To cope with the impact, Gree would try to turn crisis in to opportunities by stressing innovation, promoting transformation, keeping growth and seeking development. It would ensure new growth in 2009 with its core technologies and core products.

In her speech, Qian Fangli said Gree had been a leading company of Zhuhai and a model of "independent business establishment, independent innovation and proprietary brand name" for Zhuhai. Gree has been the largest air conditioner producer in the world for 4 years in a row. Though it experienced various challenges in 2008, with the concerted efforts of its 40,000-plus employees, it still managed to make excellent achievements and achieved satisfactory results for its shareholders, for the society and for the state. Zhuhai CPC Committee and Zhuhai Municipal Government will continue their support to and care of Gree so that we can overcome the present difficulty and seek mutual development.
