The successful R&D of a new type of central air conditioner that can be widely used in large-scale public construction and which save 30% energy compared with current centrifugal chillers was officially announced on October 24, 2009. The scientific and technological achievement review that was jointly conducted by the National Research Center for Energy-saving and Environment-friendly Refrigeration Equipment, Gree Electric Appliances and the Hefei General Machinery Research Institute, with the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Department organizing the participation of authoritative experts from Tsinghua University, Chinese Association of Refrigeration (CAR), China Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Industry Association, the new centrifugal chiller was certified as being at an international advanced level by the experts.
The centrifugal chiller, which was independently researched and developed by the air conditioner giant in China, Gree Electric Appliances, is mainly to be used in central air conditioning systems with independent temperature and moisture controls. The project comes from the National Key Technology R&D Program in the 11th Five Year Plan of China, with the name High Efficient Centrifugal Chiller with Leaving Water Temp of 16-18 C.
According to the company, the new product was introduced by Huang Hui, general engineer and vice president of Gree and also by the director of the National Research Center for Energy-saving and the Environment-friendly Refrigeration Equipment, mentioning that, as the largest central air-conditioner thus far, the new product collects the latest technology achievements developed by Gree with 100% independent intellectual property and the highest COP(Coefficient Of Performance) reaching 9.18, saving 30% energy compared with current centrifugal chillers under the same circumstances. It can not only solve the problem of high energy consumption of large public projects, but also greatly increase Chinese large-scale central air conditioning technology.
