CSR Honored the Most Responsible Enterprise for the Year 2009

In the afternoon of January 22, the fifth China Corporate Social Responsibility Forum with the Chinese Style Responsibilities as the theme and 2009 Responsible Enterprise Awarding Ceremony was held at a small hall of Great Hall of the People. CSR President Zheng Changhong represented the company to receive the owner of the Most Responsible Enterprise for the Year 2009 and attended the responsibility conversation as a forum distinguished guest.

The forum is jointly sponsored by China News Weekly and Chinese Red Cross Foundation under the guidance of Ministry of Commerce, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, State Administration of Work Safety, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, All China Federation of Trade Unions, Red Cross Society of China, and Chinanews. Selection of the Most Responsible Enterprise for the Year 2009 has gone through three stages of public voting, media comment and expert comment before the final list of winners came out.

As a practitioner who has produced green products with green production, served green transportation and contributed to low carbon economy , CSR has received the honor of the Most Responsible Enterprise for the Year 2009 together with other 14 enterprises including China Development Bank, China Minmetals Corporation, Shenhua Group, China Oil & Foodstuffs Corporation, Sinosteel Corporation and China Datang Corporation.

Hua Jianmin, chairman of standing committee of the National People''s Congress, conferred the tripod for responsibility with Chinese elements to the awarded enterprises. He highly spoke of the prized enterprises and said that these enterprises, as outstanding industry representatives with economic and social contributions have actively assumed responsibilities for Chinese consumers, employees, communities and environment while creating profits for the shareholders and being responsible for shareholders, thus representing typical Chinese style responsibilities .

In his award-winning testimonies, Zheng Changhong said that the abbreviations for corporate social responsibility is CSR, the same as the abbreviations for China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Industry Group Corporation, which should be not only a coincidence literally but also a unification from form to core. As a leading enterprise in the Chinese railway transportation equipment manufacturing industry, CSR will consistently produce first-rate products, possess first-rate technologies and train first-rate employees to provide the users with the most valuable green products and build itself into an industry vanguard with the most social responsibility awareness.

At the forum sessions themed on joint efforts to deal with global responsibility challenge , Zheng Changhong, Dongfeng Nissan general manager Toshiaki Otani, and PhoenixTV moderator Chen Xiaonan had a wonderful conversation and carried out constructive discussions concerning topics such as low carbon economy, green transportation means and global cooperation to assume responsibilities as large corporations. Taking the opportunity, Zheng Changhong described the in-depth understanding and active movements of CSR with awareness of its important responsibilities to promote low carbon economic development as a railway transportation equipment manufacturing enterprise.

Zheng Changhong pointed out that compared with other means of transportation, the railway transportation equipment has the lowest carbon emission and the biggest advantages in energy conservation and environmental protection. At present, China is speeding up construction of high-speed heavy-duty electric railways and urban subways, unfolding a three-dimensional green transportation blueprint for us. The country is determined and has a strategy to develop the low carbon economy. CSR also has the confidence to be the main force to develop and manufacture more and better green environmental protection products and play an exemplary role in promoting the low carbon economy.

At the forum, centering on the Chinese Style Responsibilities , leaders of State Administration of Work Safety, State Administration for Industry and Commerce, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Certification and Accreditation Administration, All China Federation of Trade Unions, National Development and Reform Commission, and State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council have delivered speeches and summarized the policies and measures of different supervision departments under the Chinese central government in 2009 to promote social responsibility shouldering. Anders Ahnlid,Sweden trade delegate general has introduced experience of EU countries in this regard.
