Construction of Midea's First Overseas Factory

On March 29th, 2006, the ground-breaking and foundation stone ceremony of the Vietnamese Industrial Park of Midea's Consumer Electric Division in was held in the Singaporean Industrial Park in Binh Duong Province of Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Industrial Park of the division is reportedly so far the largest investment by a Chinese enterprise in the Southeast Asian country. It is also the first overseas factory by Midea Group. The project is expected to be completed and begin production by the end of this year. With its goal of "based in Vietnam and covering the ASEAN", it has become a strategic key point for Midea Consumer Electric Division in the ASEAN, which in turn has accelerated Midea's march into globalization.
According to Huang Jian, General Manager of Consumer Electric Division, by starting international business in Vietnam as a developing country both culturally and geographically close to China, a solid foundation has been laid for greater and true success in a larger area covering India, Europe, and America.
Li Jianwei, Vice President of Midea Group, attended the ceremony to offer his congratulations. Honorable guests present at the ceremony also included: Ms. Gao Deke, Consul-General of China in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Hu Suojin, Business Consul of China in Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Ly Hung, Vice Chairman of the Investment and Management Committee of the Singaporean Industrial Park in Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Xoan Van, CEO of the DESCON Company as the contractor of civil engineering; Dr. Nguyen Ngoc An, General Manager of the NEW. C. C. Company as the design supervisor; and Mr. ADIB Kouteili, Director of PEB Steel Company.
