The largest award recognizing Chinese companies, technologies and high-end 3G products, the Golden Cup Awards, has released the 2010 list of winners, where Midea took home two awards.
The annual awards, organized by one of China s most influential business and economy newspapers The National Business Daily, recognized Midea as the recipient of both China's Outstanding Internet Connection Experience Award and the 2010 Trustworthy Enterprises Award.
As early as May 2010, Midea debuted cutting-edge Internet of Things products at the Shanghai Expo State Grid Pavilion. The display exemplified how the Internet of Things, a wireless network of sensors for interconnecting smart appliances, could be applied. The exhibit also featured appliances such as Midea air-conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines and microwave ovens with State Smart Grid seamless docking via mobile and Internet connection. Pavilion visitors could gain a visual understanding of smart grid construction for the applications as well as examples adapting future smart grid appliances.
The Internet of Things combines a number of technologies and research disciplines to closely link the physical world and cyberspace. Experts foresee a strong developmental future for the technology, bringing greater opportunities to Chinese home appliance manufacturers such as Midea. It is expected that Midea will lead the future market with smart home solutions for customers.
