August 8, is a day full of celebration. Today, TISCO celebrates her 75 years birthday. For 75 years, TISCO has gone through a course full of difficulties and hardship, while the course also flashes brilliance of victory and glory.
TISCO was established in August 1934, which is one of China's iron and steel conglomerate with a long history. It had not only painful memories of difficult and dismal operation in old China, but also brilliant record of continuous development and expansion in socialist new China. TISCO's history is the microcosm relfecting development of modern Chinese iron and steel industry.
Looking back on 75 years vicissitudes of TISCO, the company experienced two systems of semifeudal & semicolonial society, socialist society; experienced different historic phases as the Japanese invasion to China, civil war, economic recovery and the "First-Five-Year Plan" fast development, "Great Leap Forward", "three-year temporary national economic difficulties ", the" Cultural Revolution ", reforming and opening up; in terms of scale, TISCO has got on a path from small to large, and gradually speeded up the development, and also created a series of brilliance ... ...
April 1949 is a historic milestone in TISCO 75 years history of development TISCO was liberated. As the masters of the company, in the recovery period and the "First-Five-Year Plan" period, TISCO employees carried forward the master spirit of the working class, created the first great period in the history of TISCO.
- From April 1949 onwards, in a month time, one after another, the whole line resumed production. In that very year, produced 16,000 tons of pig iron, steel 12,000 tons, 11,000 tons of steel proiducts;
- September 1952, the first heat of stainless steel successfully smelted;
- 1954, rolling out China's first silicon steel sheet, successfully produced cannon steel, TISCO began its production history of military steel;
- 1955, the pure iron and alloy tool steel trial production succeeded,;
- The 1957, bullets steel, heat-resistant stainless steel, cold heading steel trial production succeeded
TISCO built China's first AOD furnace, the first stainless steel slab continuous casting machine, which filled up blanks in China's metallurgical industry.
From the factory s establishment to the founding of the People's Republic of China, TISCO spent 15 years to set up a small ordinary steel plant with annual capacity of 10 thousand tons; from the founding of PRC to the period of reforming and opening up, TISCO spent 30 years completing a large-scale special steel conglomerates with annual output of 1 million tons steel; in the 30 years of reforming and opening up, TISCO should be said that earth-shaking changes have taken place. Year 1978-2007, with total assets from 999 million Yuan to 80.077 billion Yuan; steel production capacity from 100 million tons to 10 million tons, of which stainless steel production capacity increased from 150 thousand tons to 3 million tons; sales revenue increased from 540 million Yuan to 100.326 billion Yuan; pre-tax profits increased from 133 million Yuan to 9.609 billion Yuan.
As entry into the WTO, facing the trend of economic globalization and competition internationalization, based on the systematic research to domestic and international situations, especially the developing situation in stainless steel industry, TISCO set up the strategic target to build the most competitive stainless steel enterprise in the world; fully learning from the experience of the world's stainless steel business development, learning their fruits of development in operation equipment manufacturing and information technology, taking world-class as the goal, planning new projects in a timely way. 2004-2006 under the supports of the country, TISCO invested more than 30 billion Yuan implementing a new stainless steel project and its supporting projects, achieved the equipments integration, large-scale and high efficiency, formed an annual output of 10 million metric tons (including 3 million tons of stainless steel) production capacity. At the same time, TISCO gradually built up a world-class level of new 7.63m coke oven battery, 4350m3 blast furnace, 90 tons ultra-high power EAF, 180 tons of RH vacuum furnace, 2250mm hot rolling line, 3300mm plate mill and stainless steel cold-rolling wide production lines, etc, achieved a full range of technology and equipment upgrade, the overall yield increased dramatically. At the same time, TISCO actively take the path of energy-saving environmental protection and recycling economy, with the growing in size, the comprehensive energy consumption per ton steel, 10 thousand Yuan production value consumption, fresh water per ton of steel reaching a new level, ranking the industry leading position; per ton steel chemical oxygen demand, flue dust emission, sulfur dioxide emissions also declined substantially.
Meanwhile, as China's major special steel base, TISCO relies upon its own advantages, timely adjusts development ideas, and extends its services to all communities, all fields of the society, selected the direction of development with main products of stainless steel, electrical steel, military steel, tool steel , etc., and gradually developed a series of high-tech content, high value-added, high-efficiency stainless steel products, walked out a new path of development from ordinary to special, continuously improving new varieties and series of the products, market share increased year by year.
In recent years, through integration & innovation over today's world of new technologies, new processes, TISCO realized the transformation from the domination of introducing, digesting the advanced technology to developing and obtaining the independent intellectual property rights, accumulated and formed 745 stainless steel-based core technologies , of which nearly 100 core technologies are of the international level, and four achievements received four National Science and Technology Progress Award; successfully developed a batch of strategic products as super duplex stainless steel S32750, wide and thick X70-X80 hot-rolled coil, LNG storage tanks with a 9% Ni steel; TISCO s key products as stainless steel entering into the key projects in quantities as Olympics, west-to-east natural gas line and "Shenzhou" V and VI spacecraft, "Harmony" high-speed trains, etc. In comprehensive strength, TISCO Technology Center ranks in the forefront among the national enterprises; the company honorably listed among "National Independent Innovation Capability Industries Top Ten" enterprises, its popularity, competitiveness and social influence keep growing, and attached wide concern by the stainless steel industry and the public community.
Facing the global financial crisis, TISCO cadres and workers fear no hardship and difficulties, in the first half of this year, stainless steel production has been growing in a production and sales, achieved more than half of the time with more than half of the task, which laid a solid foundation to cope with the crisis.
For 75 years, generations of TISCO people make every effort and work hard, at present, TISCO has transformed from a special steel plant with one million tons of capacity into the 10 million-ton large-scale iron and steel conglomerate, and develops into the stainless steel enterprise with global biggest capacity and most advanced process and technical equipments, achieves a historic leap.

For the future, TISCO will focus on the current, look into long term, propose to accelerate the construction of the world's most competitive stainless steel enterprise, by 2010, products with stainless steel as main species, will reach international leading level in indicators of variety, quality, cost, research and development, energy saving, environmental protection, efficiency, service, etc; by strengthening and expanding its main business, making acquisitions, restructuring, promoting diversity-related business and so on, TISCO will further improve its overall competitiveness, up to 2015, operating income shall double the existing basis, to 200 billion Yuan, to build an internationally competitive conglomerate, by better and faster development to create more glorious enterprise performance.
