Emptying Operation Commenced for World s Largest Fining Furnace

The 7th emptying operation for the shaft furnace of the smelting reduction furnace of Baosteel s Luojing Works was formally started on January 11, 2011. It is the worldwide largest fining furnace contracted by MCC Baosteel Technology Services Co., Ltd. (BTS). And this is the annual overhaul of Luojing Works for the first time in 2011.
The emptying operation is expected to be completed in 6 days, with an actual implementation period of only 117 hours. BTS undertakes 188 items of various overhauling works for machineries, electric devices and meters, including 9 items of key safety-control works, 10 items of quality-control works, 7 items of 1st grade high-risk works, 6 items of 2nd grade high-risk works and 21 items of 3rd grade high-risk works.
As the first set of non-coking-coal ironmaking equipment made in China, the COREX-3000 smelting reduction furnace of Baosteel s Luojing Works is the worldwide largest furnace-diameter and output-capacity COREX ironmaking device, marking the development orientation of the green ironmaking process in the world today. On this ground, BTS has developed its unique advantages in emptying operation of shaft furnace, which is a key part in overhauling of COREX furnace, and has been granted with quite a few patents in this field.
