National Building Inspection Center Incepted in CRIBC

Upon approval by Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA), the National Supervision and Inspection Center for Quality and Safety of Industrial Buildings and Structures (NSICQSIBS) was formally established on March 22, 2011, in MCC Group Central Research Institute of Building & Construction (CRIBC).
As the only one such institution of national-level in China, NSICQSIBS will engage in the business of the following three aspects under the leading of General Administration of Quality Supervision (AQSIQ) and CNCA: (i) completion of product quality supervision and random inspection task designated by the state government; (ii) fulfillment of technical analysis and treatment on engineering quality accidents upon designation by the governmental organizations in charge the supervision and administration of production safety; and (iii) undertaking inspection projects upon consignment by the organizations and ventures of the community, for instance: (a) quality and safety inspection, authentication, liability assessment, reinforcement and transformation of industrial buildings and structures; and (b) inspection on construction materials, steel, concrete components, steel structure and the other construction components.
As the supporting institution of NSICQSIBS, CRIBC, affiliated to MCC Limited, one of the Fortune 500 firms, has been working for a long period on the research of engineering application technologies in the fields of industrial buildings/structures and environment protection, and made outstanding achievements in terms of civil engineering, environment protection and engineering materials, including over 2,600 items of scientific and technical payoffs. The Inspection Center of Constructional Engineering of CRIBC covers a complete range of business scope, and is endowed with pretty rich inspection experiences and remarkable achievements. It has: (i) successfully fulfilled random quality inspection on metallurgical industrial buildings and structures for many times; (ii) undertaken major inspection and authentication work on industrial buildings and structures for Baosteel, Shougang and Qinshan Nuclear Power Station; (iii) made perfect performance in inspection and authentication work on quite a few large-sized public buildings such as the Great Hall of the People, Olympic Venues and the new building of CCTV; (iv) carried out technical R&D and prepared standards/specifications for inspection of industrial buildings/structures and secure structures of nuclear power station; and (v) made quite a few core technology achievements with domestic advanced level and proprietary intellectual property rights.
Basing upon the Inspection Center of Constructional Engineering, NSICQSIBS is staffed with nearly 300 professional and technical talents in various fields, and over 2,000 sets of advanced inspection devices. There are several labs subordinated to NSICQSIBS respectively for foundation, engineering structure, construction materials and engineering materials. On this ground, the personnel, equipment and conditions can fully meet the demand for inspection on various industrial buildings and structures.
Along with the rapid development of economic construction, the industrial buildings and structures have witnessed a sharp increase in number, and thus are calling for timely supervision on the quality and safety. NSICQSIBS is established accordingly, which is deemed to be of great economic and social significance to: (i) enhance the overall supervision/inspection expertise and guarantee the utilization safety of the industrial buildings and structures; (ii) improve the quality supervision system of China; and (iii) remove the hidden troubles on quality and safety of the industrial buildings and structures.
