Leading Chinese engineer Xu Binshi has been named "foreign academician" at the PolishAcademy of Science.
At a ceremony held in Beijing recently, Polish Ambassador to China Tadeusz Chomicki praised Xu's efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in scientific endeavors.
Xu, from the ChineseAcademy of Engineering, began working with Polish scientists such as Wladyslaw Wlosinski in the 1980s and the two started many exchange programs for young researchers.
Wlosinski became the foreign associate at the ChineseAcademy of Engineering in 2005.
Xu pioneered surface engineering and remanufacturing engineering, and founded the National Key Laboratory for Remanufacturing.
