The 3rd workshop on Soil Microbial Ecology in ISA

On September 24th to 25th, The 3 rd Workshop on Soil Microbial Ecology was held in Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which was sponsored by the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISA), the Key Laboratory of Processes of Agro-ecosystem, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Research Center for Eco- Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences (RCEES), and Taoyuan Agro-ecosystem Observation & Research Station. More than 50 experts and scholars, from the United Kingdom, New Zealand and other countries, domestic universities and scientific research institutions attended the Symposium. The Symposium was also supported by Foundation of Chinese Academy of Sciences, British Consulate-General Guangzhou and Professional Committee of Soil Biology and Biochemistry, Soil Science Society of China.

Professor Tan Zhi-liang, the vice director from ISA, Professor He Ji-zheng from RCEES, Peter Harrington, Deputy - Head China Science and Innovation Network of British Consulate-General Guangzhou made congratulations, respectively. James Prosser, FEMS chief editor of Microbiology Ecology, Aberdeen University, Professor Phil Brookes from Rothamsted Research Station, Professor Hongjie Di from Lincoln University, Dr.

Brajesh Singh from Macaulay Land Use Research, Professor He Ji-zheng from RCEES, Jia Zhong-jun from Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Li Shun-peng from Nanjing Agriculture University , Professor Wei Ge-hong from Northwest A&F University y, Associate Professor Yao Huai-ying from Zhejiang University , Professor Yin Shi-xue from Yangzhou University made a wonderful lecture on microbial ecology study in this symposium,respectively.

All attendees also discussed warmly the recent research advances in microbial diversity and function, nitrobaeteria, archaea diversity, activated function, pollutant control, soil organic carbon cycling, soil microbial dynamics, and multiple copies genes of denitrification, etc. The symposium was chaired by Professor Wei Wen-xue, the director of Taoyuan Agro-ecosystem Observation & Research Station, ISA. After the meeting, the experts visited Taoyuan Agro-ecosystem Observation & Research Station of ISA. They have provided valuable advice for the future research and development.
