Second CSNS ATAC Review Meeting Held at IHEP

The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) Project Management held its Second International Accelerator Technology Advisory Committee (ATAC) Review Meeting at the Institute of High Energy

Experts tour the site of CSNS prototype components

The review panel, which was made up of ten experts from top accelerator laboratories and institutes around the world, reviewed the CSNS accelerator technical design.

CHEN Hesheng, director of IHEP introduced the latest progress of the project.

The experts listened to 18 reports, covering the overall project introduction, design of accelerator systems and accelerator physics, etc. While touring the site of the CSNS prototype components, the experts had extended interactions with the engineers and technicians.

They concluded that the design scheme was an advanced one, which laid a solid base for CSNS future construction. Suggestions and advice were put forward, particularly on the linear accelerator, rapid cycle synchrotron (RCS) and control systems. Till now, most of the accelerator R&D has been completed at high quality.

In his summary, CHEN expressed his thanks to the experts for their valuable review comments, and urged the project team to work hard and to solve the problems.
