Expedia Inc. Chairman Barry Diller Tuesday said the travel website expects to resolve a ticket sales dispute with American Airlines soon.
"We are in dispute with American that's gone for too long," Diller told a news conference in Singapore. "What we would like will be that we and American can be back in business soon."
Expedia is in dispute with AMR Corp.'s American Airlines over the carrier's insistence that third-party agents use its new "direct connect" technology to sell its tickets.
Diller is in Singapore to announce a joint venture with Malaysia's budget airline AirAsia Bhd. to sell flight tickets, hotel bookings and holiday packages in Asia.
At the same conference, AirAsia Group Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes said the tie-up with Expedia would boost the airline's ancillary income, with the budget carrier expecting the pact to open doors to new markets.
