The container throughput of Jiangyin Port has exceeded 1 million TEU

On the afternoon of December 27th, at Sunan International Dock of Jiangyin Port, the container throughput of Jiangyin Port has exceeded 1 million, reaching 1.001 million TEU (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Unit), with the end of the shipment on No. 6 Dihai cargo ship. Thus, Jiangyin Port becomes the 4th port with a container throughput of 1 million TEU along the Yangtze River. It is a new breakthrough Jiangyin Port has made since the realization of "a port with a container throughput of 1000 million tons".

In order to promote the rapid development of container service, Jiangyin Port has newly built and expanded the exclusive stock dump for containers to enhance the containerization of grain and high-grade timber, which has enlarged the transportation development space efficiently with an increase of 20% in its operation speed. As the 1st international function platform of Jiangyin, Jiangyin Bonded Logistics Center was put into operation in 2009, and the service of Jiangyin Port was further enhanced.

It is said that during the "12th Five-Year Plan", Jiangyin Port will keep a foothold in the strategy to become a key combinatorial port of Shanghai International shipping Center, a key distribution centre of containers in the Yangtze River Delta and a regional logistics port, in order to build a low-carbon, green and environmental friendly port. With the fast development of port logistics economy, the modern logistics industry cluster of Jiangyin New Harbor City, which was developed depending on the harbor, is also under construction.
