The two cities are signing A Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Friendly Communication and Cooperation between Lishui and Yeosu.
A visiting group of 11 people from Yeosu of South Korea, under the lead of mayor of Yeosu Kim Chung Seog and chairman of Yeosu Council Kim Ronggui, came to Lishui yesterday. Mayor of Lishui Lu Ziyue, director of the Standing Committee of Lishui Municipal People s Congress Jiao Guanghua, and deputy mayor of Lishui Liang Xidi met those visitors from South Korea. A Memorandum of Understanding on Strengthening Friendly Communication and Cooperation between Lishui and Yeosu has been signed between Lishui City and Yeosu.
Yeosu, a city located at the Yeosu peninsula in the south of Korean Peninsula, has an area of 497.53 square kilometers and a population of 330,000, with one county and 6 districts under its jurisdiction. Yeosu is an important base of petrochemical industry in South Korea. The Yeocheon Industrial Complex here is a national base of chemical industry, consisting of over 100 chemical enterprises and related subordinate enterprises that mainly produce fertilizer, refined petrol products and petrochemical products. Yeosu, known as a city of aquatic products , features marine aquatic products. In 2007, Yeosu was selected as the host city for the 2012 World Expo.
In 2005, Lishui City and Yeosu ceremonially signed an agreement on friendly communication and cooperation. Since then, many visits were arranged between the two cities. This year, a series of communication activities were organized for teachers and students of the two cities.

At the meeting held for Yeosu vistors, Lu Ziyue, mayor of Lishui, extended warm welcome to the visitors on behalf of Lishui Municipal People s Congress and Lishui Municipal People s Government. He said: Yeosu of South Korea is a beautiful coastal city and catches world-wide attention as it has been selected as the host city for 2012 World Expo. He also gave his best wishes that the 2012 World Expo in Yeosu be a big success. He believes that the signing of the agreement on friendly communication between the two cities marks a fresh start in the friendly relationship of the two cities and this visit will greatly enhance the friendly communication and cooperation between the two cities. He hope that the two cities, under the framework of the Memorandum, should give full play to their advantages, strengthen their communication and cooperation in all aspects including economy and trading, culture, education and tourism, and strengthen their cooperation on projects concerned by the two cities, to realize mutual benefit and win-win.
Kim Chung Seog sincerely invits Lishui governors and the people to attend the 2012 World Expo in Yeosu.
Kim Chung Seog says, as a Korean saying goes, the meeting of two people is predestinated; so is the meeting of two cities; 5 years ago I signed an agreement on friendly cooperation and communication between the two cities with Lishui; since then I have been longing for visiting Lishui; today it become true; I sincerely appreciate your warm hospitality; this year it is the tenth anniversary for the establishment of Lishui City; I would like to extend my warmest congratulation on behalf of Yeosu; from now on, I hope that the two cities will further strengthen their cooperation and communication, to achieve further development. He also extended his sincere invitation for Lishui to attend the 2012 World Expo.
General Secretary of the Standing Committee of Lishui Municipal People s Congress, Ye Liping, was present at the meeting, and General Secretary of Lishui Municipal People s Government, Zhu Jikun, hosted the meeting.
