Grain Information Service Center officials in South Africa said that South Africa as the continent's largest maize producer sold the white corn to South Korea last week. It aimed at reducing the excess supply of maize in South Africa.
According to Crop Forecasting Committee, South Africa may have exported 86,679 tons of white maize to South Korea.
The weather condition was fine in South Africa and genetically modified seeds were applied extensively. It leaded to a rich yield of corn. The production reached to 12.8 million tons. It is marking the highest level in three decades.
According to FAO, the stocks of corn in South Africa may be more than 3 million tons in November 2010(May to next April).
