Tata Refractories conducts enterprise development programme

Nov. 18, 2010 - Tata Refractories (TRL), Belpahar, conducted an entrepreneur development programme (EDP) for a group of eleven small and medium enterprise (SME) entrepreneurs of Chirkunda Refractories Cluster, Jharkhand, at the JJ Irani Centre for Learning, Belpahar, on November 15 and 16, 2010. The EDP was aimed at understanding modern refractories business practices, world-class manufacturing facilities and to explore scope for large scale enterprise (LSE) and SME integration. This programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise, Government of India, and jointly organised by Indian Refractories Makers Association (IRMA) and TRL.
The initiative was started by AK Chattopadhyay, MD, TRL, in his capacity as chairman of IRMA in 2009 in Chirkunda, Jharkhand, to build technology competency in the SME sector. He is presently the chairman of the SME committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry (Eastern Region).
The group was led by HP Biyani, MD, Raj Ceramics, and was comprised of small and medium refractories manufacturers of Chirkunda. A Dasgupta, senior officer, IRMA, accompanied the group. In the absence of Mr Chattopadhyay, the programme was inaugurated by Priyabrata Panda, COO, TRL, and senior executives including PK Patel, H Sehgal, S Adak, P Chakravarty and KK Panigrahi gave inputs on plant management, energy management, product development, refractories technology and integration of LSE and SME. The HRD department, TRL, coordinated the programme.
