After two years preparation, the 6th World Choir Games was opening in Shaoxing on 15th July. At 7:30 p.m., while the national anthem of the People s Republic of China and the prelude of the World Choir Games were playing in the International Exhibition Center of China Textile City, the 6th World Choir Games began there.
There were 472 choirs from 83 countries and regions, and total up to 20,000 singers participated in the opening ceremony. They proudly waved their national flags, and enthusiastically present their pride and cheerfulness.
The congratulatory letter from Chinese vice chairman was read by the secretary of Provincial Party Committee Zhao Hongzhu., and the secretary of Municipal Party Committee Zhang Jinru and the president of INTERKULTER G nter Titsch addressed in the ceremony. Then the State Councilor Liu Yandong announced the opening of the 6th World Choir Games. Additionally, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People s Congress Han Qide and the vice chairman of the Chinese People s Political Consultative Conference Edmund Ho also attended the ceremony.
Afterwards, the peace bell was ringed by 6 selected singers from five continents.
After the ceremonial session, Shaoxing styled artistic performances took audiences back to the ancient Shaoxing. Some dancers fluttered with their long leaves and some gently waved the exquisite fans. With the melodious and elegant tune, many forign audiences are fascinated by the graceful dances. The exhibition center erupted, and flashing lights were everywhere. The performances namely Elegant Rhythm of the Orchid Pavilion, the Watery City, Butterfly Lovers and other Southern-China styled artistic performances, followed by the fabulous choral performances from five overseas choruses, they brought the scene atmosphere to a culmination. At the end, the theme song of the 6th World Choir Games the Date of Heart was sang by Chinese famous vocalists Dai Yuqiang and Wang Li.
Since 16th July, all the competitions in the 6th World Choir Games have fully started. During coming 11 days, over 500 fantastic choral competitions and more than 100 concerts will be brought to the globe by singers from all over the world.
