The first human organ donation in Zhejiang

It was learnt from the press conference on the first human organ donation in Zhejiang held on Oct.18th that the first human organ donation was successfully made on October 11th in Zhejiang, which marked a substantial step forward in the pilot work of human organ donation in Zhejiang.

40-year-old Feng Zhoufa, the first human organ donor, was a security guard in a textile company in Xiaoshan Hangzhou. Feng had a traffic accident this August and died on October 11th. Upon the signing of the Organ Donation Registration Form by Feng s wife and two adult children and approval by Feng s parents, Feng s liver and two kidneys were transplanted to a liver failure patient and two renal failure patients, which made three lives continue.

Gao Xiang, deputy director of the Provincial Human Organ Donation Committee and full-time vice president of Provincial Red Cross, said there have been 37 volunteers registering for human organ donation at the provincial human organ donation office since the initiation of the pilot work of human organ donation more than a month ago.
