A Thousand and Ten Thousands Project benefits thousands of farmers in Zhejiang

In Zhejiang, there are more and more beautiful villages surrounded by blue mountains and green waters while sewage, garbage and old houses have disappeared at a quick speed. These are the great changes brought by the Thousand-Village Demonstration and Ten-Thousand-Village Renovation Project carried out in our province.

Zhejiang started to build 420 key villages, strengthening the construction of their infrastructure and public services, making great efforts to promote the replacement of house sites and the construction of rural housing. The agglomeration effect of population begins to be felt.

In the first three quarters of this year, there are 475 thousand newly added people supplied with safe drinking water, 1841 newly added administrative villages with at least three facilities, including newly built village activity rooms, clinics, cultural and educational facilities, sports and exercise facilities, and trustworthy shops. The reconstruction of rural housing and rural power grids and the integration of urban and rural passenger transport have been accelerated.

It is expected that by the end of this year, about 20,000 administrative villages, which accounts for more than 60% of the total in the province, will have initially completed the Five Renovation Projects including village road hardening, garbage disposal, sewage treatment, toilet improvement and village landscaping.
