From the beginning of 2010, the economy of Zhejiang has kept a good momentum of growth. In the first 3 quarters, the GDP of the whole province mounted to 1876.5 billion RMB yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.5 percent and up 1.9 percentage points over the whole nation in the same period. Concerning respective cities, Jiaxing (with a growth rate of 14.2%) and Lishui (13.8%) rank 1st and 2nd respectively, followed by both Ningbo and Quzhou (13.5%), tied for the 3rd place. The top 3 on the list of total volume of GDP are Hangzhou (404.567 billion RMB yuan), Ningbo (360.963 billion) and Wenzhou (199.34 billion).
With respect to industries, the relatively rapid GDP growth is attributed to the bounce-back of industrial economy. The industrial added value in six cities gained more than 15% over the year-ago period. Tertiary industries have withnessed a steady boost with the added value ascending by over 11% in 7 cities, where the sectors of wholesale and retail, accommodation and catering, and finance have augmented rapidly, hence the main cause for the thriving of tertiary industries.
