Zhejiang and Fujian held joint drill against animal epidemics

On the morning of November 23, Zhejiang and Fujian held the first cross-provincial joint drill against animal epidemics in Qingyuan County, Zhejiang Province. The drill was based on a simulated Level-4 epidemic, a highly pathogenic avian influenza, which broke out on the boundary of Zhejiang and Fujian. It was comprised of three parts: locating and diagnosing the epidemic, taking emergency response and terminating emergency response.

The circulation of livestock products is massive in Zhejiang and Fujian. Every year, over 20 million fowls and 200,000 to 300,000 pigs are transported from Fujian to Zhejiang only.
