Living conditions for the disabled in Zhejiang are improving

Statistical data on living conditions of disabled people in Zhejiang and their well-off status released on Jan. 13 show that in 2010, 71.9% of the disabled people in Zhejiang have achieved the well-off standard of living, increasing by 3.9% compared with last year. And this is 14.5% higher than the national average level. The Living conditions and development conditions achieved by the disabled are 73.2% and 69%, increasing by 1.6 and 8% respectively compared with the previous year. As a whole, living conditions and development conditions for the disabled in the province are improving, moving steadily towards the well-off status.

What is worth mentioning is that the average per capita income of the disabled families in Zhejiang is 1.5 times more than that of the national average. The participation rate of basic social security of disabled workers and urban residents is above the national level. The participation rate of new rural cooperative medical system of rural disabled people is a little ahead of the national average. The household electricity consumption of the disabled families per month is 1.6 KWH higher than that of the national average.
