LED chipmaker Formosa Epitaxy has announced revenues of NT$1.1 billion (US$37.33 million) for the fourth quarter of 2010, an decrease of 23% sequentially. Net loss for the quarter was NT$1 million due to loss of NT$80 million from currency exchange.
Operating income for the quarter totaled NT$100 million and gross margin of 21%.
Revenues for the whole year totaled NT$4.63 billion, an increase of 121% on year. Gross margin for the year was 39%, up 12 percentage points from 2009. Operating income for the year totaled NT$1.3 billion, and net profit of NT$1.08 billion with an EPS of NT$2.9.
Looking into 2011, Formosa is expected to benefit from the new capacity from its Yangzhou plant in China and expanded product line from LED chip-making to LED assembly. Formosa aims for a revenues of NT$6 billion for 2011, up 30% on year.
