A container ship, the Formosa Container No.6, left Shatian Zone of Humen Port for Taiwan at 12:00 pm last Wednesday (March 31). The shipment signifies the inauguration of direct container line service between Dongguan and Taiwan. Without transfers, much logistics cost and time can be saved by using this service.
According to a manager of the local international logistics company, a container transferred from Hong Kong to Taiwan would cost about HK $ 2,000 and about RMB 1,300 yuan if transferred from Shekou. However, after the direct container starts operation, 600 to 700 yuan will be saved for each cargo and the time-cost will be shortened greatly to 2 days at most.
Shipping costs of each container in and out of Humen Port before May 31 will be subsidized 20 to 50 yuan in order to attract more cargo.
