XJ To Build More Airports
During the 11th 5-Year Plan period, Xinjiang invested 4.797 billion yuan in building Kanas and Bole airports, and rebuilding the airports in Urumqi, Hami and Korla. Now Xinjiang has 16 airports in operation. It becomes the region with the most civil airports nationwide.
During the 12th 5-Year Plan period(2011-2015), Xinjiang will newly build airports in Tazhong, Shache, Loulan and Tumshuk, relocate Qiemo and Fuyun airports, and reconstruct airports in Urumqi, Hotan, Korla and Kashgar. It is expected that XJ will have 22 airports in operation by 2015.
