From Sept. 5 to Sept. 6, Acting Governor Zhao Zhengyong met with Wen Yuezhong, global vice president of GE, Willings, vice governor of Antwerpen Province, Belgium, Fu Qiang en, president of US-China Business Council, Pat Dawson, President of Dow Chemicals in Asia and Pacific Region, Wang Jinli, vice president of Shenhua Group, and Davis, China President of BlueScope Steel in Australia, who came to attend the Shaanxi Activity Week of 2010 World Expo Shanghai. Vice Governor Jing Junhai attended the meeting.
Zhao Zhengyong welcomed the special guests to attend the Shaanxi Activity Week, and introduced the economic and social development situations of Shaanxi Province to them. In particular, he introduced the development opportunities and supporting policies of the country in implementing new round of western development strategies, and welcomed them to make investment and cooperation in Shaanxi to seek for mutual development.
When meeting with Wen Yuezhong, Zhao Zhengyong said that Shaanxi and GE have kept close contacts. In recent few years, cooperation of both sides was further expanded. It is hoped that both sides could further enhance the cooperation in new energy, high-voltage equipment, energy conservation and emission reduction.
Zhao Zhengyong told Willings the friendly relationships between Shaanxi and Antwerpen Province had developed in a healthy and sustainable way, and has become a typical example for development of friend provinces and states. In late September, the two provinces will jointly organize a series of activities to memorize the friendly relationships in Xi an.
It is hoped that both sides could further promote the development of friendly relationships starting from this point. When meeting with Fu Qiang en, Zhao Zhengyong indicated that America is the most important partner of Shaanxi. So far, the trade volume of both sides had increased year-on-year. More than 50 member enterprises of Sino-US Trade Commission had invested and developed in Shaanxi.
It is hoped that the holding of Shaanxi Activity Week could seek for more cooperation opportunities. When meeting with Dai Peide, Zhao Zhengyong said that speeding up the construction progresses of cooperation projects of Dow Chemicals and Shenhua Group in Yulin is the common target of the Shaanxi Provincial People s Government and the enterprises.
It is hoped that enterprises and local governments could cooperate with each other to enhance coordination and communications, and speed up project construction. Zhao Zhengyong also talked with Wang Jinli on enhancing the cooperation. He said that Shenhua Group had constructed methanol downstream project, which not only complies with national industrial policies and is favorable for extension of industrial chain.
It is hoped that the work progress could be sped up further. When meeting with Dai Side, Zhao Zhengyong indicated that sustainable development of economy of Shaanxi needs high-volume, large-transparency and high-quality steel structure. It is hoped that the company could grasp the opportunities to seek for business opportunities in Shaanxi.
Wen Yuezhong said that GE has favored Shaanxi market and is confident to the cooperation with Shaanxi in the future. Willings indicated that it has very important meaning to attend the Shaanxi Activity Week as representatives of friendly provinces. It is believed that the friendly relationships of the two provinces will be further maintained and developed.
Fu Qiang en said that Sino-US Trade Commission will bring into play the advantages of wide liaison actively, and organize member enterprises to enhance the exchanges and cooperation with Shaanxi. Pat Dawson said that Dow Chemical will speed up project construction and try to complete the work on schedule.
Wang Jinli indicated that Shenhua Group and Shaanxi have maintained good cooperation relationships. In the future, it will enhance the strengths for in-depth and local transformation of resources and fulfill co-development with Shaanxi. Davis said that BlueScope and Shaanxi have successful development history.
It is hoped that they could bring their own advantages into full play and attend the western development of China and economic construction of Shaanxi.
