On March 23, Vice Governor Wu Dengchang met with Ge Lin, chairman of HSBC Group, and his fellows in Xi an.
Wu Dengchang firstly welcomed chairman Ge Lin and his fellows to visit Shaanxi. He said that HSBC Group is China s largest foreign bank. HSBC s establishment of a branch in Shaanxi is a correct selection. In recent few years, Shaanxi s economic development showed two features, i.e. high-speed and competitive advantageous industry. In recent three years, Shaanxi s economic development scale becomes wider and wider. The economic aggregate in the past four years had been doubled. Although affected by global financial crisis, growth rate of GDP of Shaanxi still ranked the 7th place in the country. Advantageous industries of Shaanxi mainly include high-end manufacturing industry and energy and chemical industry. Out-going development of industries, projects and enterprises of Shaanxi needs supports of international financial institutes. It is hoped that international financial institutes including HSBC Group could expand their business volume in Shaanxi rapidly.
Ge Lin said that it was his first visit to Xi an, Shaanxi. During his visit, he inspected the businesses of Xi an Branch, and felt the charms of cultures of Shaanxi. Since its establishment in 2006, Xi an Branch of HSBC has developed smoothly together with rapid development of Shaanxi. HSBC is confident to promote its long-term development in Shaanxi by serving for Chinese enterprises with its international network resources.
