It is noted from the Commerce Department of Shaanxi Province that total value of technological introduction agreements of Shaanxi Province reached 160 million dollars in 2009, an increase of 166.7% year-on-year compared with the previous year. Total value of agreements from manufacturing industry reached 153.6347 million dollars, accounting for 95.84% of the total value of technological introduction agreements of the province.
America, UK and Germany ranked among top three places for total value of technological introduction agreements of Shaanxi Province. These three countries have always been the main sources of technological introduction of Shaanxi Province over the years. Of which, total value of technological introduction agreements signed between Shaanxi Province and US reached 66.8538 million dollars, accounting for 41.7% of the total. The total value of technological introduction agreements signed between Shaanxi Province and UK reached 50.9068 million dollars, accounting for 31.8% of the total.
It is noted that technological introductions of Shaanxi Province were mainly focused on manufacturing industry in 2009. Next are traffic and transport, warehouse, and postal communications industries. A total of 34 technological introduction agreements were signed by the manufacturing industry in the whole year, and the contractual value totaled 153.6347 million dollars. In manufacturing industry, chemical material and chemical product manufacturing sectors accounted for 89.2% of the total technological introduction value of the province.
Zeng Zhaoning, professor of the School of Economics and Management of the Xi an Shiyou University, said that Shaanxi Province is a famous old industrial base of China, and Shaanxi s equipment manufacturing industry has made great contributions to economic development and industrialization of the country.
Since reform and opening up, the equipment manufacturing industry of Shaanxi Province has developed relatively slowly. Now, the equipment manufacturing industry of Shaanxi Province is rejuvenating rapidly as the country enhanced the adjustment, reconstruction and rejuvenation on old industrial base.
Zeng Zhaoning said that growth rate of Shaanxi s equipment manufacturing industry firstly exceeded that of energy and heavy chemical industry in 2007, and became important pillar industry of Shaanxi s economy. In particular, three leading enterprises, i.e. Western Electric, Xi an Aircraft and Shaanxi Heavy Trucks led the equipment manufacturing industry of Shaanxi Province to develop together. According to the planning of Shaanxi Province, sales revenue of the equipment manufacturing industry of Shaanxi Province will exceed 300 billion yuan in 2012.
