Officials from China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group said on Monday that the plan for the construction of inter-city railway network in the newly approved Chengdu- Chongqing economic zone had been formulated and 12 express rail lines will be built in the coming years to promote the economic development in the region.
The expansive network will link most of the cities in the zone and it is said that four inter-city high-speed railways will be completed by the year of 2014 between Chengdu and Chongqing, the core cities in
the economic zone, when the traffi c time between the two cities will be shortened to about one hour.
