A Guangdong economic and trade delegation of over 1000 members headed by Governor Huang Huahua leaves for Taiwan today (Aug 16) to participate in the coming "Taiwan Guangdong Week".
The week, themed "tour of cooperation, tour of homeland love", begins today and will end on Aug 22. It will feature events in economy and trade, tourism, agriculture, merchandise procurement, cultural exchanges as well as Asian Games promotion.
According to Wenhui Daily, Guangdong mission is expected to buy from Taiwan goods worth of 5.2 billion USD (40.4 billion HKD) in the Week and it will become mainland's largest purchase in Taiwan.
According to Governor Huang Huahua in the press conference last month, 23,885 Taiwan business enterprises have already invested in Guangdong with a total investment of 55.4 billion USD, making the island become Guangdong's largest source of investment after Hong Kong. Guangdong also issues a series of preferential policies to help Taiwan enterprises to expand their reach in domestic market.
