Guangdong Education Working Conference was held in Guangzhou yesterday. Party Secretary of Guangdong Province Wang Yang urged Guangdong to strive for educational modernization till 2020, fostering a learning society. With PRD area as the focus, Guangdong should cooperate closely with Hong Kong and Macau to build itself into a talent pool and education plateau in Southern China.
Wang Yang stressed that we should push forward the balanced development of compulsory education, optimize educational structure, promote educational reform and innovation, strengthen cooperation between Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong in education, construct teaching staff, and increase input in education. Wang Yang said that financial allocations for education at all levels in Guangdong should account for over 22% of their total financial expenditures till 2012, which was expected to rise to 24% in 2015 and 25% in 2010.
