The 7th Compass Navigation Satellite was successfully sent into the planned space transfer orbit by CZ-3 in Xichang Satellite Control & Launch Center on 18th, signifying the 15th successful space launch of China this year.
As a geosynchronous satellite around earth, the 7th compass navigation satellite is the 5th satellite in the compass navigation satellite system which is independently developed and executed by China. According to the plan, the system will be able to serve the Asian Pacific Region before 2012, and developed into a large-scaled aerospace system with global coverage made up of 30 satellites, earth segments and various user sides in 2020.
