The Guangzhou-Zhuhai light rail made a test running on 31st December. When the rail ran through Cuiheng Village with a speed of 200 km/h, Dr. Sun Yat-san s dream of railways finally realized.
In 1912, Dr.Sun Yat-san resigned from the presidential post and took up the post of Railroad Supervisor of The Republic of China and established China Railway Corporation, but he didn t fulfill his dream. Even after the foundation of PRC, people in Zhongshan had to spend 6 hours to get to Guangzhou. Now, it just takes people 30 minutes instead of 6 hours to Guangzhou. The development history of Zhongshan city is accompanied by the transformation of transportation ways from port, highway to light rail, from water, land to railroad.
