The first power generating unit of Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station phase II is on schedule to begin operation in October, according to Guangdong officials. The Ling Ao Nuclear Power Station in Daya Bay of Shenzhen City, with its own Chinese brand line of pressurized water reactor nuclear technology CPR1000, contains two generating units, each with an installed capacity of 1,080,000 kilowatts.
The unit was connected to the provincial power grid on July 15, marking the nation's ability to make its own nuclear power plant design and equipment manufacturing. Unit two is expected to be connected to the grid in June 2011.
