"Guangdong is willing to cooperate with India in the area of economy and trade, tourism and culture," said Guangdong Vice Governor Xiao Zhiheng during Indian's 63rd Independence Day celebration reception in Guangzhou on August 16.
According to Xiao, import and export trade volume between Guangdong and India grew 10 percent to 4.8 billion USD in 2009 despite the global financial crisis. From January to June this year, foreign trade volume between Guangdong and India saw an increase of nearly 24 percent.
Indian Consul General in Guangzhou Indra Mani Pandey said that India is looking forward to a visit by the Governor of Guangdong later this year and hopes the visit will be a milestone in India's budding trade relations with the province.
