Officials marked the 100-day countdown to the Asian Para Games on September 3 with a charity show entitled the Light of life. Tickets to all the competitions were given out for free to encourage people to watch the games, according to Lin Laoping, the vice-secretary of the Asian Para Games organizing committee.

The Guangzhou Asian Para Games is scheduled for December 12 to 19 and includes 19 disciplines. On August 28, a total of 2351 athletes from 40 countries and regions registered to participate. The Asian Para Games is an opportunity for the city government to transform Guangzhou into a disabled-friendly city. Ramps for wheelchairs will be added to many public buildings and new signalization for the blind, including audio signal devices. Extensive renovation on the public transport system is also being planned. All projects are scheduled to be completed by September 30.
