Guangdong will represent the country to take part in the dragon boat competition in Guangzhou Asian Games this November and a trial for dragon boat teams for Asiad will be held next month, according to a representative from Administration of Sports of Guangzhou Municipality at the Int'l dragon boat invitation competition held yesterday (June 26).

The invitation competition took place on the section of Pearl River between the Guangzhou Bridge and the Haiyin Bridge, attracting more than 100,000 audiences. Over 6,000 athletes from Britain, Australia, Canada, Netherlands, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Foshan and other cities joined the race.
To welcome the upcoming Asian Games, 27 colorful dragon boats were specially organized to compete in the race, the largest scale in dragon boat invitation competition in recent years. Many dragon boats were decorated with banners and slogans featuring Asian Games, expressing athletes' bless for the Asian Games.
