A local private enterprise has bought the CITIC Minsk World in Yantian District for 140 million RMB(21 million USD), the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday (June 4).
The decommissioned aircraft carrier, which occupies 150,000 square meters and houses decommissioned tanks and armaments, will be kept in Shenzhen, according to the Daily.
The park's daily operations will be unaffected during the transition period.
CITIC Minsk Investment Co. will officially announce the sale today. It had informed staff of the sale at a board meeting.
The buyer, Shenzhen Nanyu Investment Co., did not attend the board meeting.
Founded in 1999, Shenzhen Nanyu Investment Co. is affiliated to China United Holdings Ltd. in Hong Kong, an industry group engaged in commerce, industry, tourism real estate and the wine business, according to its Web site.
Minsk staff are concerned for their jobs due to a lack of familiarity with their new boss, an unidentified staff member told the Daily.
However, the source said the new owners would probably be more flexible in their management style and could bring much-needed vigor to the development of Minsk World.
The park went on sale for 140 million yuan on the Shenzhen United Assets and Equity Exchange in June, stirring public speculation about its fate.
