The Guangdong Private Economy Work Conference was held on July 7 with a pledge for new policies to facilitate the development of the private sector.
These policies feature the protection of the sector's legal property rights, and prohibiting any arbitrary interference into the private sector's production and management. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of punishing any illegal acts by a government administration which would violate the interests of the private sector. Finally, the Guangdong government has decided to ease the state monopoly on certain industries and the construction of infrastructure. This shall include finance, telecommunications, electricity, petroleum and natural gas.
