The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) government's delegation led by Fernando Chui Sai, the Chief Executive of Macao, visited Dongguan on July 6. Mr. Li Yuquan, the Mayor of Dongguan City, warmly received the delegation and exchanged gifts with Cui.
Cui highly praised measures and achievements of Dongguan in the advancement of industrial restructuring and transformation. Both parties expressed desire to enhance exchange and cooperation between Dongguan and Macao.
Accompanied by Mr. Jiang Lin, the Vice Mayor of Dongguan City, the delegation visited Songshan Lake Exhibition Hall, Guangdong Electronics Industry Institute, Dongguan Exhibition Centre as well as several other locations.
By April of 2010, there were 15 Macao-invested enterprises in Dongguan concerning the cement, handicraft and toy industries. In the first four months of 2010, Dongguan's export volume to Macao amounted to 26.46 million USD while the city's import volume from Macau totaled at 1.98 million USD.
Dongguan was the first stop in their itinerary. The purpose of the delegation's visit to Guangdong is to further their knowledge with respect to the implementation of 'The Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta' and other policies and experience in the pilot scheme. The delegation will next visit Shenzhen and Huizhou.
