Guangzhou issued Opinions on Attracting and Cultivating High-level Talents, according to which, "Yangcheng Meritorious Deed Award" would be set up in the name of Guangzhou Municipal Government to award two people who have made excellent contribution to the economic and social development of Guangzhou every year. This award will be held once every two years, with a prize of 5 million RMB for each person.
This new policy aims at abosrbing more high-end talents through the creation of the working mechanism to attract and cultivate high-level talents in a wide range of fields at all levels, and building an environment which provides opportunities for starting up businesses, room for growth and guarantee for quality life.
The policy is worth attention as it makes stipulations concerning the talents absorption, allocation and incentive mechanism as well as their residence permit, housing, spouse employment, children's schooling and medical care issues.
