The latest 'advantaged cities in China' report released by the China Institute of City Competitiveness indicates that the city of Dongguan has ranked 12th place in China in terms of internationalization.
According to the report, international city refers to those that have formulated developed open economic structures and can sustain development via integrating global resources. Their features include: wide international influence, high-level openness, developed economy, sound system, organized management, strong comprehensive service ability, and of considerable scale.
295 cities in China were investigated in the research. The report said the world-class metropolis has not been included in the researching result. Macao, Shenzhen and Guangzhou are listed as the top three international cities in China.
